Cloud native EDA tools & pre-optimized hardware platforms
NOTE: The information in this letter affects only those customers using the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Operating System (OS). If this does not apply to you, please disregard.
Starting with the K-Foundation (2015.06) releases, the platform name of the current RHEL platform, amd64, will be changing to linux64. This will affect customer’s execution paths in their scripts.
The majority of 草榴社区 tools, including the Galaxy Implementation Platform and Verification Continuum, will migrate to the new platform name in K-Foundation (2015.06, 2015.09, 2015.12). TCAD, Protolink, Proteus, ProGen and ICWB_PLUS products will migrate to the new platform names in L-Foundation (2016.03, 2016.06, 2016.09).
In order to ease this transition, 草榴社区 will create symbolic links from the old platform name (amd64) to the new platform name (linux64); this ensures existing scripts continue to function. Customers are strongly encouraged to modify their scripts to the new names as soon as possible, and to use the new platform name when starting new designs.
Customers with scripts that currently read
../icc/amd64/syn/bin/galaxy_shell_exec
Should change their scripts to read
../icc/linux64/syn/bin/galaxy_shell_exec
Why is this change happening?
The purpose of the changes is to bring consistency to the platform naming of our releases by standardizing, eliminating obsolete platform names, and setting the stage for an eventual single-binary Linux platform.
What about suse64?
Customers using suse64 should not make any changes. These customers should continue to use the suse64 platform and NOT use the linux64 platform at this time.
What about the other platforms?
This name change does not affect the 32-bit Linux platforms. The 32-bit SUSE platform name is currently suse32 and remains unchanged. Likewise, the 32-bit RHEL platform is currently named linux and will remain unchanged.
This change does not affect the Windows or IBM AIX platforms.
