A Host ID is either a unique string that is encoded on a USB security dongle provided by 草榴社区 or a unique signature tied to a particular computer. All OS and PS software is designed to work with a license key that is tied to the Host ID.
Each license key is associated with a specific Host ID. If you have multiple seats of Optical 草榴社区 (OS) or Photonic 草榴社区 (PS) software, you can identify which license key file is associated with your specific USB dongle using the Host ID string.
There are two ways to run OS and PS software: with a fixed license or a floating license. You have a fixed license if you have an individual license tied to a USB dongle or a license tied to a specific computer (also called a node-locked license). You have a floating license if your software is configured to check out a license over a network (also called a network license).
You need to provide your Host ID when you:
Request a license key from the web interface on the 草榴社区 SolvNetPlus website.
Request access to the OS and PS Customer Support Portal.
If you are using a fixed license and you already have the software installed on your PC, you can obtain your Host ID from:
If your license key is tied to a USB dongle, provide the Host ID from the Dongle Host ID field. This number starts with 400-* or 80-* followed by 15 characters. If your license key is tied to a specific computer, provide the Host ID from the Hardware Host ID field. Hardware Host IDs start with C-* followed by 15 characters. An example of the Get Host ID output is shown below. The Host ID for the USB dongle attached to this computer is 400-*16TL68DC7J3FHJN.
If you do not have CODE V, LightTools, or LucidShape installed, you can request a standalone Get Host ID utility from optics@synopsys.com.
If you are using a floating license over a network, please consult the system administrator managing the floating licenses. To read the Host ID on the server PC, go to Start > Programs > OSG Floating License Manager > Get Host ID.
If you are registering for the Customer Support Portal and are using a floating license, enter the Host ID if you have it; if you don’t have the Host ID, enter “Floating.”
There are many ways to determine a Host ID for a particular tool and operating system. The Host ID is linked to the license server for floating licenses and on the local machine for node-locked licenses. Here are a few ways to find your Host ID:
