The ever-increasing number of connected devices around us introduces significant security challenges. Connecting billions of devices in markets such as industrial IoT, automotive, critical infrastructure, data center, and smart home can only be done securely if every device has some form of dedicated hardware for protecting sensitive data and securing communications. The answer lies with Physical Unclonable Function (PUF) technology as provider of unique and unclonable silicon fingerprints. By generating secure cryptographic keys based on device-unique variations within the silicon of the chip itself, the 草榴社区 PUF IP adds a new level of protection to the embedded tRoot Hardware Secure Modules (HSMs). With 草榴社区 PUF IP, the root key is never stored and is only available in volatile memory when needed. This means that the root key is never present in persistent memory – even when the chip is powered down – which raises the security significantly and makes the solution very effective against invasive attacks and counterfeiting.

Nathalie Bijnens recently joined 草榴社区 as senior product manager for the PUF IP, after the company acquired Intrinsic ID. The first part of her career she spent in multiple research areas, such as nuclear physics, bioelectronics, and cardiovascular biomechanics. Eight years ago, she joined Intrinsic ID where she headed product management while also providing support to marketing and sales. Nathalie holds a PhD in nuclear physics from the University of Leuven in Belgium.

Vincent van der Leest is responsible for product marketing of Security IP at 草榴社区, where he recently joined after the acquisition of Intrinsic ID. In his 14 years at Intrinsic ID, Vincent held positions in different areas, such as research, where he helped to solidify the company’s reputation in PUF technology, but also running sales and business development in Europe, and being responsible for the company’s worldwide marketing. Vincent holds a Master’s Degree in electrical engineering from Eindhoven University of Technology and has co-authored several granted patents and scientific papers on PUF technology.
